The themes may change from year to year, but the story remains the same. Utilities who attended DistribuTECH 2019 – the industry’s largest conference and expo – are always interested in demonstrated ways technology can help manage distributed energy resources, improve reliability and deliver consumer benefits.

Visitors to Landis+Gyr’s booth were taken on a journey designed to show the interconnected ways a true utility IoT platform works to support grid management and the evolution of smart communities.

Some of the highlights include the continuing expansion of the Gridstream Connect portfolio. Leveraging the distributed computing power of our meters and sensors, Landis+Gyr unveiled Gridstream Connect Apps, our application ecosystem including App OS, App Studio and App Marketplace.   Gridstream Connect Apps provides utility customers the ability to create custom applications tailored to their unique objectives, as well as the freedom to leverage existing applications from our App Marketplace.

And speaking of apps, Landis+Gyr and Sense were able to showcase the recent partnership that will allow utilities to offer the Sense home energy management app on Landis+Gyr’s next generation meters – a boost for consumer engagement and energy management programs.

With the Wi-SUN FAN certification in the news, DistribuTECH provided a good backdrop to tout another partnership that demonstrates Landis+Gyr’s commitment to network flexibility and interoperability. Cisco network products were on display in the booth and will be available as an option to use in the Gridstream Connect network going forward.

As the industry focus turns from calculating traditional smart grid benefits to assessing the benefits to communities and consumers, Landis+Gyr displayed the progressive step smart street lighting solutions are having for the integration of new sensing technologies to support expansion of electric vehicles and other beneficial uses of electricity.

As always, we were most grateful for the opportunity to meet and greet many of our customers and new partners at the customer appreciation event. The World War II Museum provided a powerful backdrop for an unforgettable evening.
