In recent years, corporate sustainability and the recognition of businesses’ broader role in society have become priorities for corporate leaders. In addition to the societal benefits, the evidence is clear that over time companies with strong sustainability programs outperform those without. Our goal at Landis+Gyr is to help companies and consumers reduce their carbon footprint by managing their energy better. And we’ve held ourselves accountable by reducing our own carbon emissions by nearly 40 percent since 2007.
One of the many ways we can further our commitment to sustainability is by supporting a strong national energy policy that includes clean energy. You see, energy is not only my career, it’s my passion, which has led me to become a board member at Advanced Energy Economy (AEE), a national association of businesses that are dedicated to making energy secure, clean, and affordable. AEE's #cleanenergyvotes campaign encourages those of us in the energy sector to be informed and aware of the issues that will impact our business, our economy, and our communities.
Now is the time to lead the change that we want to see in our communities. If you believe that a sustainable energy future should be a priority, I encourage you to research the candidates on the ballot in your precinct to understand their platform and plans for energy policy. Our colleagues at the Edison Electric Institute have put together a helpful, nonpartisan resource at EEIvotes.org to help you identify your candidates and other local voting information.
Together, let’s build a brighter energy future.
